Newton Geiszler: I'm looking for Hannibal Chau. Hannibal Chau: You can if you soak them in ammonia.ĭr. They- they usually *die* as soon as the kaiju falls! I thought you *couldn't* keep them alive!
Newton Geiszler: Oh, my God! Oh, my God, this place is heaven! That's a- that's a lymph gland from a Category 2! And, and, and what you working on here? Is this a cuticle? In mint condition? Is that a kaiju skin parasite? I-I've never seen them alive before. To fight monsters, we created monsters of our own. The world came together, pooling it's resources and throwing aside old rivalries for the sake of the greater good. And then we learned this was not gonna stop. Raleigh Becket: Then the third one hit Cabo. Newscaster: The acid factor of the Kaiju blood creates a toxic phenomenon known as Kaiju Blue And then, only six months later, the second attack hit Manila. We mourned our dead, memorialized the attack, and moved on. Raleigh Becket: By the time tanks, jets and missiles took it down, six days and 35 miles later, three cities were destroyed. I was fifteen when the first Kaiju made land in San Francisco. When alien life entered our world, it was from deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. Turns out I was looking in the wrong direction. The 3D effects are only prominent in IMAX.Raleigh Becket: When I was a kid, whenever I'd feel small or lonely, I'd look up at the stars. If you’re on the fence about 2D or 3D, I suggest 2D if you want to save some money. So, in short, I’ll just say this: I command you to go see Pacific Rim NOW (while it’s still in theaters). I could go on and on about this film, but I’m limited to only a thousand words. Sorry for sounding like a 12-year-old kid, but this movie really makes you feel that way.
These scenes alone are worth your money, the story is a bonus. This is honestly one of the best soundtracks I have heard in recent years.īecause this is ultimately an action movie, I’ve refrained from mentioning any details of the action scenes on here (to avoid spoilers) but I’m just letting you know that the battles in the movie are some of the most MIND-BLOWING, KICK-ASS, EPIC action sequences I’ve seen in a long time. Major props to Djawadi for creating such a terrific soundtrack that brought this movie to a whole new level of A-W-E-S-O-M-E. The soundtrack of this movie literally transports you inside the brain of a Jaeger, making you feel invincible. If by the end of this movie you don’t walk out of the theater feeling like you have the power to slay a Kaiju, then you don’t have a single badass bone in your body. Ramin Djawadi hit it out of the ballpark with this one. Yet the dynamic these two share is extremely intriguing and, without a doubt, entertaining.
One works solely based on facts and figures, the other, a kaiju groupie, likes to take risks and do the unthinkable (the drift, anyone?). These people, perfectly portrayed by Charlie Day and Burn Gorman, are actually funny, enthusiastic, and have a passion for their work. In this day and age in movies, scientists are known to be very plain, somewhat boring characters whose sole purpose is to magically solve the problem, but Pacific Rim totally turned a 180 on that stereotype.
The ScientistsĪt first you might say that these characters seemed very cartoon-y and over the top and many reviewers criticized that. Her character was the least sexualized character I have seen in recent years and yet was the most attractive of them all not just because of her beauty but because of the respect she shows towards everybody. Here we saw a female protagonist who is driven by personal motivation not by sexual interests. Her entire character, her backstory, her intelligence, her demeanor, her accent, her fighting skills. There are not enough words in the vocabulary for me to describe how I absolutely adore Mako Mori.
